- PUBLIC HEARING - Adoption of new Building, Gas, Plumbing and Electrical Codes:
On December 5, 2019 the Jefferson County Commission will hold a public hearing concerning the adoption of the 2018 Edition of the International Building Code, Plumbing Code and Fuel Gas Code and the 2017 Edition of the National Electrical Code as amended. If adopted, the new codes would become effective on February 03, 2020. After that date all new applications for permits would need to be consistent with the new Codes. All COs are signed and ready for pick up only at 8:30 am and 4:15 pm (M-F). Please call ahead of time to confirm your CO is ready to be picked up. - ATTENTION CONTRACTORS:
If an individual or a person working for a company applies for a permit with DDS and they have Add Fees due to Jefferson County, no permit will be issued to the individual or company the person works for until the Add Fees are paid. - As of January 1, 2020, Jefferson County will no longer issue County Cards for Electrical Master, Electrical Journeyman, and Electrical Apprentice to work in unincorporated County.

Only this office has the OFFICIAL zoning of unincorporated county property; zoning information obtained from ANY other source, including other County Departments, should be verified through our office before taking any kind of action.
