UPDATE #92 6/27/2022

The CDC is now recommending that all children 6 months through 5 years of age should received a COVID-19 vaccine. This expands eligibility for vaccination to all Americans ages 6 months and older.  You can read more here.

The CDC has rescinded its order requiring a negative pre-departure COVID-19 test prior to flight to the US. Read about it here.

A new community vaccination center opened today 4/21/21 at WaterMark Place in Bessemer. This site is brought to Central Alabama and the Birmingham metro region by Federal, State and Local partnerships. No appointments are necessary click here for hours of operation.

Governor Kay Ivey amends safer at home order to be safer apart, mask ordinance to expire Friday, April 9. Read the news release here.

The state will open up the vaccination category to 1C starting on March 22, read more from the state here.  You can view who is included in this category here. Once again if you have not registered for the vaccine please call the vaccine hotline at 205-858-2221. They can register you and answer questions about the vaccine.

Governor Kay Ivey has extended the mask order until April 9th. She will not extend it after that. There are other changes in the order and you can read it here. Easy to read graph on the updated order is here

The vaccine call center has expanded it's hours and is being staffed by the Brunos Event Team. It will now be open 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Monday - Saturday. The number has not changed, call 205-858-2221. Update #74 1/29/2021 11 a.m.

Starting Feb. 8, Governor Kay Ivey and State Dept. of Health will start vaccinating ages 65 up and other critical workers such as first responders, corrections officers, food and agriculture workers, postal service, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, public transit workers and people who in work in education, the judiciary. Update #72 1/11/2021 3 p.m.

You can now register online for the COVID-19 vaccine. The next category to start vaccinations is Category 1B (on Jan. 18), ages 75 and older and Emergency Response personnel such as police and fire workers. Click here for the EMA website and click no the registration button. Once you register you will be contacted when your category is up for vaccination. The Jefferson County Dept. of Health and the EMA as a part of the Unified Command have established a call center to assist with coordinating vaccination efforts in Jefferson County. If you believe you are in the current allocation plan and would like more information on how to access the COVID-19 vaccine call 205-85vacc1 (205-858-2221).
