|Q.||Where is the JCCWD Office located?|
We are located at 3420 3rd Avenue South, Birmingham, Alabama 35211. We are next to the Alabama Career Center (Employment Office).
|Q.||What information will I need to determine my eligibility?|
When you visit the JCCWD Office, you will need the bring all of the information listed on the WIA Information Sheet Provided to you by Birmingham Career Center (also found on website as "WIA Information Sheet").
|Q.||How do I know if I am eligible for WIA assistance?|
Your eligibility will be determined once you present all of your information to staff at the JCCWD Office. Eligibility cannot be determined over the phone. If eligible, you will be classified in one of three categories: Adult, Dislocated Worker or Youth.
|Q.||What is a Dislocated Worker?|
Generally, a dislocated worker is an individual (aged 18 and over) who has been terminated (through no fault of their own) or laid off, or has received a notice of termination or layoff from employment; is eligible for or has exhausted unemployment insurance; or was self-employed but is unemployed as a result of general economic conditions in the community or because of a natural disaster; or is a displace homemaker who is no longer supported by another family member.
|Q.||Am I eligible to receive training assistance?|
Not everyone is eligible to receive training assistance. In order to receive training, you must be evaluated/counseled by a JCCWD Office Case Manager and determined to be eligible for and in need of training.
